The Breath and Heart
The breath and heart
beat with the rhythm of the Earth
in touch with the pulse
of the great trees and stars.
Some believe we all align one day
but until then we have our footsteps to mind.
Unlike orcas or trailing geese
we must create a path,
an artist’s line within a field of beauty.
The tiny valves of our hearts flutter
their thousands of beats reminding us
of the origin and goal
to our long, long journey.
