Toward the Opening Window

Toward the Opening Window
The confinement of isolation
weighs upon the soul
like the unforgiving surfaces
of hardened stone,
the sense of being alone
in a field of harsh choice
burning away strength,
diluting intent to its weakest solution.
Opening the curtains onto the gray morning
takes an effort of will
as if rising from an oppressive depth
yet in that very movement
the support of all that goes unnoticed
while we’re immersed in conflict and intrigue
buoys us, relieving the inward pressure,
reminding through our ancient memory
we are not alone nor forgotten.
Toward the light we are accompanied
by the strength, the kindness of the Earth
and a benevolence tangible to our innermost feeling
as we move toward the opening window.
