In the last eight years, Barack Obama and his family have spent more than $10 million each year for holidays, amounting to more than $85 million in vacation travel expenses, and, of course, this is not yet the final number.
The conservative organization, the Judicial Watch, released the numbers on Monday – numbers which they have been following and analyzing for several years. They even revealed that the Obamas spent around $5 million in taxpayer money for their Christmas vacation to haway last year.
The precise amount for the Obama’s 2015 vacation trips ranged around $4,823,206,88, an amount in which are expenses included for Secret Service equipment, transportation, and accommodation for the security operatives. However, the number does not include costs for repositioning aircraft and ships in the place or the required communications to secure the Obamas.
“The Secret Service and the Air Force are being abused by unnecessary travel,” said Tom Fitton, head of Judicial Watch in a statement on the issue. “Unnecessary presidential travel for fundraising and luxury vacations on the taxpayers’ dime would be a good target for reform for the incoming Trump administration.”
Here’s the official Judicial Watch outline:
As files acquired by the Judicial Watch explain, the Secret Service paid for rooms at the Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki and Golf Club, and reserved rooms at the Moana Surfrider resort, and the Alm Moana Hotel with a final cost of $40,249.48 and 671,895.99, respectively.
The Secret Service rented 103 vehicles from Avis, Alamo, and Hertz with total costs of $165,893.88 in taxpayer money.
The Obamas also feasted at some sumptuous restaurants while on the holiday, which, along with the food costs, it needed top-of-the-line protection for the first family.
For this information, the Judicial Watch asked for a Freedom of Information Act request in January, and , consequently, the files were made public as an answer to a filed lawsuit in early Мay.
